Jesus (Y’shua) is Lord of the Sabbath
Matthew 12:8; Mark 2:28; Luke 6:5
A brother tells it this way: “The Sabbath was given not only as a day of rest for us but also as a sign between us and God that just as he made the Sabbath Day holy, it is him that makes us holy.”
The weekly Sabbath rest is a prophetic foreshadowing of the return of Jesus (Y’shua) to Earth beginning his eternal reign with an initial Millennial Messianic Kingdom age of a 1000 years (the 7th Day of the Earth). It will be like living in the Garden of Eden once again walking with God. Jesus (Y’shua) defeats his enemies, ends all war, brings peace to the Earth, and reigns as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, reigning as Lord of the Sabbath.” (See 2 Peter 3:8)
Followers of Jesus (Y’shua) from all across the world have been sharing their testimonies about their Sabbath experiences. About how their obedience to God’s Covenant command to rest and keep his 7th Day Sabbath holy has greatly enriched their lives, their marriages, family life, Bible studies, and relationship with God. Some feel that on the 7th Day God opens a special window from Heaven to communicate with us and to teach us. I can see why they say this. God is pleased when we obey his Sabbath Covenant and he greatly desires to bless our obedience. Can you not see the absolute power of God and his Holy Spirit here!
Genesis 2:3 (ESV): “So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it God rested from all his work that he had done in creation.”
Leviticus 23:3 (ESV), God said: “Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation. You shall do no work. It is a Sabbath to the LORD י ה ו ה in all your dwelling places.”
Blessings for Sabbath Keepers
“If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day; and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD י ה ו ה, honorable; and shall honor him, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words: Then shall you delight yourself in the LORD י ה ו ה; and I will cause you to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Jacob (Israel) your father: for the mouth of the LORD י ה ו ה has spoken it.”
“Thus says the LORD י ה ו ה, Keep judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed. Blessed is the man that does this, and the son of man that lays hold on it; that keeps the Sabbath from polluting it, and keeps his hand from doing any evil.”
